Thinking About "Running Away"?

October 9, 2010
So you're thinking about running away, huh?  May I say, I believe it will be one of the best decisions you've ever made.  It's not going to be a visit to the spa or a fruity drink on the beach, but hearing about running journeys (especially running journeys from fellow moms), I've come to realize that there is not much to matching the feelings you encounter during and after a good run - make that a good "RUN away".

I urge you, if you've ever considered running at all or if you've tried running and it just didn't "take" for whatever reason or if you've been a successful runner of any distance and then just let time and schedules chomp up that running activity, I urge you to give it a go.  Don't talk yourself out of it before you even give the idea and consideration a chance.  And if you've got some concerns or questions, give me an email or call and I'll tell you the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

We're not talking about spending grueling hours on end working out and hurting your body.  I truly believe that running, practiced the right way, is a wonderfully healthy activity that almost anyone can participate . . . and enjoy.  Running is a unique sport that focuses both on individual achievement and on group enjoyment.  It's just great like that.  And it's as flexible a sport as they come.  Need some alone time - ok, run alone.  Need some friend therapy - run with a buddy.  Need to zone out and relax - run (safely) with your iPod with classical music.  Need to work out some frustration - run fast with some serious tunes.  You get the idea.  Running can match your mood, but also enhance it for the better.

So let's RUNaway .  If you are in The Woodlands, I'd love to coach you and I'll hope to see you at our new Tuesday  running group.  You've got a really neat journey ahead of you and I'd love to be a part of it.  Give me a jingle or email and we'll talk about RUNning away!

RUNning Away Takes some Faith . . . and Patience

September 6, 2010
So today marks the 2nd week with my RUNaway Moms group.  And through this Houston heat, I'm happy to report that everyone is doing great!  But that heat and humidity can play with your mind and confidence, as can the fatigue that seems to set in at the end of the first week.  For all you runners starting this journey or getting back into the swing of things, here's a short little pick me up penned by little ol' me - Chapter 2 in The Sophomore Running guide.

The Sophomore Runner

August 30, 2010
So, the RUNaway Moms running group starts our journey this week.  We are RUNnin' away!  It's a cool time for me - guiding or coaching fellow moms in hopes that they will love this sport as much as I do . . . or at least love that they tried this sport.  This weekend especially, I've been reminded that the nerves for new RUNaway Moms are seeming to boil to the surface before our adventure starts.  And this is totally normal for all of us with a new something on the horizon, right?  Well, I tho...

RUNaway Group Training vs. RUNaway Virtual Training

August 19, 2010
Wow.  Lots of calls and emails on this.

  •
I have a conflict on Mondays.  Can I still be a RUNaway Mom?
  •
I can't make it at 8:15 or 9:30 am because I'm at work.  Can I still train?
  •
I don't live in The Woodlands?  Can you still train me?
  •
I'm a teacher and can only train in the afternoons or evenings.  Any way you can help?
YES to all questions!  Let's train "virtually"!  (Scroll down below to learn how we'll train virtually.)

  • What if I'm just plain nervous to train with a group because I'm too sl...

Your New Year's Resolution

August 19, 2010
So the sparkly ball hasn't exactly dropped in Times Square and I didn't party to see midnight (actually, I haven't partied till midnight in some time now - just say it - I've turned into "that" kind of grown up), BUT I seem to have a better time making goals and resolutions this time of year than I do at the end of December.

The kids are back in school and it's a new day!  And a new schedule!  Do you do this too?  Like "When the kids start back to school, I'm going to eat healthier/lose weig...
